peterfotiskapnistos Peter Fotis Kapnistos is an American journalist, editor, and publisher now residing in the Eastern Mediterranean islands. After a career in fashion and advertising photography, Peter turned to journalism. He was editor for the “Athens News,” Greece’s oldest English-language daily newspaper. In cooperation with the Associated Press and Apple computers, he oversaw the production of “Greece Today,” one of the first direct online English-language desktop published tabloids in the Near East.

After a personal experience in 1974, Peter turned his attention to the research of paranormal phenomenal, particularly the links between UFOs and the Bible. Peter helped to introduce public access to the Internet in the eastern Aegean islands by establishing a number of Internet Cafes there. He currently writes code for various websites and lives in the Patmos group of islands (of the Apocalypse), where he believes one of the most excellent UFO encounters was witnessed and recorded.

Peter Fotis Kapnistos has participated in gallery exhibitions. The art collector Alexander Iolas visited one of Peter’s photo exhibitions.

In the past years, Peter worked with Professor Spyridon Marinatos, the archaeologist who excavated the ruins of Akrotiri on the island of Thera (Santorini). Peter was the assistant of Spiros Tsavdaroglou, an official photographer for the National Archaeological Museum of Greece. They photographed Minoan and Mycenaean sites and artifacts for Professor Marinatos, who was one of the premier Greek archaeologists of the 20th century (his name is mentioned in the video game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis). Peter also assisted the team that photographed the royal tomb of Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great, discovered in the 1980s by the archeologist Manolis Andronicus. If you happen to come across encyclopedias or history books with monochrome pictures of small trinkets from the Tomb at Vergina depicting the father of Alexander the Great, chances are that those photos came out of Peter’s darkroom work.

Peter Fotis Kapnistos is the computer systems administrator and photographer for the Image Design Centre gallery of Athens, Greece. In 2009, it exhibited eighty wax figures from Greek mythology, famous persons from the world of politics and art, as well as heroes from children’s stories. The gallery figures were from the Saint-Petersburg museum of wax figures, and are now being exhibited in Romania.
